Memories and Biography

I was assigned first to the 68th Bomb Squadron, then the 66th in the 44th Bomb Group, 2nd Air Division, 8th Air Force. The old Flying "Eight Balls." I was copilot then pilot on an air crew. Flew H2X lead crew for a total of 30 missions.
Upon completion of my tour, I was assigned to the Weather Relay Flight of the 2nd AD. I flew Weather Scout missions, and airborne relay. Our Aircraft (B-24) was called "Colgate Relay." The duty of Colgate Relay was to provide communication between 8th AF Fighter Control and the fighter Escort on deep penetrations, to enable fighters to be vectored to enemy aircraft.
