Staff Sergeant, 66th Bombardment Squadron (H), 44 BG, Army Air Forces, United States Army. For meritorious achievement while serving as Radio-Operator and Gunner on a B-24 airplane on a bombardment mission over Germany, 14 May 1943. Displaying great courage and exceptional skill, Sergeant Hooper posted himself on the narrow cat-walk over the open bomb-bay and with a small hand camera obtained excellent photographs of the results of the bombing mission. He was unable to wear his parachute due to the cramped space in which he was forced to stand. The courage and skill displayed by Sergeant Hooper on this occasion reflect the highest credit upon himself and the Armed Forces of the United States. Home address: San Antonio, Texas.
